Hippos, giraffes, hyena, antelope... the South Luwangwa region had all the usual suspects on display.

The South Luwangwa Park is filled with birdlife, especially near the river.

Leopards are sleek and solitary, but we had opportunities to watch at least two of then during a week in South Luwangwa.

African wild dogs (*Lycaon pictus*, the 'painted wolf'). There was a boisterous South Luwangwa pack whose den was located not far from the Kaingo camp.
